CHARLOTTE,NC–A bizarre twist in a south Charlotte murder case.

The brother of the teenage victim is in jail after being charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

Police say 17-year-old Jose Ibarra was shot during an argument outside a laundromat late Wednesday night.

The incident took place in a parking lot on Sharon Lakes Drive near South Boulevard.

The teen attended Harding University High School before he dropped out last August.

Police have not made any arrests in the murder but they did arrest Ibarra’s brother, Steve Ibarra, a few hours later on weapons charges including possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

CMPD is not answering questions about the specifics of the weapon or if he was involved in his brother’s murder.
