East Charlotte Condominium Fire Deemed Arson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A condominium fire on Tremaine Court that happened Sunday, October 20, has been determined arson by the Charlotte Fire Department.

Firefighters said when they arrived they saw fire conditions coming through the roof.

A woman who was trapped on the second floor by intense fire and smoke was able to break a window. Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers below convinced the woman to jump into their arms.

It took 64 firefighters to extinguish the blaze in 38 minutes. There were no injuries but seven people were displaced.

The fire caused an estimated $300,000 to $350,000 in damage.
