Florida Man Wanted For Opening Fire In Busy Restaurant Arrested In Boone

BOONE, N.C. — Police arrested a man in Boone that was wanted in Florida for opening fire inside a busy restaurant after he was fired from his job. 

Investigators say 33-year-old Jose Carlos Martins fired at least 10 rounds inside Brews Restaurant in Fort Myers, Florida from a 9mm gun after he was fired. 

Police tracked him by pulling his bank account records.  The records indicated that Martins was staying at a motel in Boone. 

Detectives were able to take Martins into custody without incident outside the Boone Trail Motel on East King Street.  He has been placed under a $250,000 bond.
