Fort Mill Woman Backs Into Patrol Car During Traffic Stop

FORT MILL, S.C. — A Fort Mill woman is accused of backing into a deputy’s vehicle has been charged with driving under the influence.

Police say 63-year-old Elaine Lands backed into the patrol car after she nearly hit a parked vehicle in a Food Lion parking lot.

The officer said Lands slowly backed into his vehicle as he was walking towards her car.  Lands failed several field sobriety tests and cops found a cup with white wine inside her car.

She is facing driving under the influence and open container charges.  Tests later determined that Lands was under the influence of the sedative, Ambien.
