Homicide Support Tree

CHARLOTTE,NC–Family and friends of murder victims decorated, then lit a special Christmas tree in uptown Charlotte.

Homicides are up more than five percent this year and 40 people were killed through the end of September alone.

The tree lighting is part of CMPD’s Homicide Support Group started by chief Rodney Monroe.

Father of a murder victim, James McGill, “Words cannot express the grief that you feel when you lose a child, especially through homicide. So, we’re here to support each other in that effort tonight.”

The homicide support group meets the first Tuesday of every month.
