GASTONIA, N.C. — A Lowell man is behind bars after attempting to rob a bank in Gaston County. Authorities say 20-year-old Jorge Zarco entered the Bank of America on New Hope Road around 11:13 a.m. on Tuesday. Detectives say he handed the teller a note requesting money for his kids who had been kidnapped.
Zarco left the bank on foot an no money was taken from the bank.
Detectives were able to locate him later in Lowell. He admitted that there was no kidnapping involved. He has been charged with robbery.
