Frustrated neighbors in Tega Cay are getting a better idea of how much raw sewage is spilling close to their homes.  New estimates suggest more than 190,000 gallons of waste spilled near Lake Wylie last week.

Residents are furious.  They say there were 49 spills and 19 boil-water complaints in 2013.  They estimate that adds up to half a million gallons of sewage.

“Each time they have a spill, the water company gives an estimated amount of the spill, and they always underestimate it,” says Tega Cay resident Linda Stevenson.

Tega Cay and Utilities Inc. are in discussions about the city buying the failing water-sewer system.
