2nd Person Arrested in CMPD Officer-Involved Shooting

FORT MILL, S.C. – Fort Mill police have made another arrest in the shooting that left a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer badly injured. 21-year-old Kirstie Barratt was taken into custody this morning in Fort Mill around 10:23 and charged with obstruction of justice. WCCB is waiting for further details from Fort Mill police.

31-year-old James William Lewis is also in custody.  CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team was attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Lewis Tuesday morning for robbery with a dangerous weapon. Agents with the FBI’s Street Task Force and deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Office Anti-Crime Team were assisting VCAT during the warrant service.

While officers were inside the residence on Brookside Drive in Fort Mill Tuesday morning, gunfire was exchanged between Lewis and veteran CMPD Officer Shane Page. Lewis was shot in the lower leg and his injuries are described as “non-life threatening.” Officers Page was also shot; it’s unclear where. Both men were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Officer Page is currently listed in serious but stable condition. He has been with CMPD since September 27, 2000.

Detectives continue to investigate.
