Man on the Edge: Time to Boot Ric Flair from the QC?

Ric Flair has long been synonymous with Charlotte sports, helping promote basketball, and inspiring the Panthers.  But that’s all over now.

A one-time fixture as a fan at the games, Ric Flair now says he’s going to skip the upcoming playoff against the 49ers.  That’s because he says he’s getting “death threats” from Carolina fans over his recent viral pep talk to the 49ers.  Said fans might not realize it was business—the WWE is putting on Wrestlemania in San Fran, and they asked Flair to speak.  But business or not, it feels like a betrayal for the hometown team.

And not just for the fans.  As we’ve seen already, the team does Ric’s famous clap-clap “Wooo!” to pump up before games.  But not anymore.

While our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, doesn’t condone death threats, he wonders if it’s time for Charlotte to put the figure four finishing move on Ric Flair?
