Grand Jury to Decide Charges in Officer-Involved Shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — State prosecutors handling the shooting death case of Jonathan Ferrell by Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Officer Randall Kerrick say they have decided to take the case before the Mecklenburg County Grand Jury to seek an indictment.

The North Carolina Attorney General’s Office released a statement Monday saying prosecutors will present their evidence to the Grand Jury on January 21.

If the Grand Jury returns a true bill of indictment, prosecutors will move forward to prosecute the charge of voluntary manslaughter in the September 14 shooting death of Jonathan Ferrell.
