Forget the Polar Vortex… that’s so two weeks ago. And “snowstorm” or “blizzard” is just too blasé. No hyperbole, you know?
This time, America is getting an “Arctic Bombogenesis”! But do you have any idea what that is? We actually looked it up, and it’s not a “real” weather term. For weather people, it’s kind of like saying something is “ginormous”. It’s two real words combined into a fake word that becomes a real word.
“Bombogenesis” is actually a “rapidly intensifying storm that forms between a cold polar air mass and a much warmer air mass”… and it sounds really cool.
But does anybody besides us—and now you—actually know what it means?
