Boiling Springs Lakes, NC — A North Carolina police officer who shot and killed a mentally ill teen has been indicted on voluntary manslaughter charges.
The shooting happened in Brunswick County, near the coast.
The 19-year-old had a schizophrenic episode and threatened his mom with a screwdriver.
Family says the teen calmed down once officers got there until a third showed up and shot him.
The officer says the teen was fighting back.
