TEGA CAY,SC–The company responsible for repeated sewage spills into Lake Wylie has been ordered to start fixing their system in 30 days.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Enviormental control Issued the order to Utilities Inc this week.
The order also says the company violated the state’s Pollution control act and must pay a fine of $136,000.
The page order also calls for better communications with customers when there is a spill.
Utilities Inc tells us tonight the order is a good thing.
A spokesman says there is no work in the plan that wouldn’t have been done “eventually” under their maintenance and improvement program.
