ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Police have one person in custody after a high speed chase in Alexander County. An officer tried to pull over 29-year-old Jonathan Willis for driving recklessly.
Willis refused to pull over and led police on a high speed chase through Alexander and Catawba Counties. The chase ended on Highway 321 when his vehicle collided with several other cars.
Willis tried to run from police but was apprehended by an officer and two civilians. Police recovered a 9mm handgun, cocaine and pills.
Willis has been charged with driving while license revoked, hit and run, driving while impaired, flee arrest, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell and distribute cocaine and trafficking opium. He was given a $88,500 bond.
