The 17-month-old is at Levine Children’s Hospital while investigators try to figure out whether to file any charges in the case.
Cleveland County deputies got the 911 call around noon.
The shooting happened inside the children’s home on Jenny Drive.
Investigators say the three-year-old shot the baby with a nine millimeter handgun that belongs to their father, Justin Carper.

There’s no word how his son got his gun.
Investigators say the baby’s mother had already taken her to Cleveland Regional Medical Center when they arrived, the child was then flown to Carolinas Medical Center here in Charlotte.
Investigators will turn the case over to the District Attorneys office to decide if any charges will be filed.
