HUNTERSVILLE, NC – There’s a new hero on duty in Huntersville… and he’s only three years old!

Firefighters pulled out all the stops for a local boy fighting terminal cancer. Six trucks showed up to recruit 3-year-old Carter Dang.

Dang got the VIP treatment Saturday from the Huntersville and Corneluis fire departments who say they jumped at the opportunity to call Carter one of their own.

“One of our deputy chiefs presented him with a Huntersville badge and we swore him in as an honorary Huntersville firefighter today,” said Bill Suthard with the Huntersville Fire Department.

Carter, who has stage four neuroblastoma, got an up-close look at his truck fleet.’

“These are people who have incredible hearts, they’re heart has been touched by the story of this little boy, as it has all of our hearts,” said Jill Swain, mayor of Huntersville.

In his neighborhood, he’s know “Super Carter” and now, he has a handcrafted firefighter shield to help in his fight.

“We like to think that the smile that we brought today might make a difference in his life, but trust me we’ll put all of this away if we could just grab him up and make him health today,” said Suthard.
