With all the snow we’ve been having this week, it was only fitting that the people of Charlotte express their creativity through snowmen. We received so many photos online and on social media that WCCB’s Rance Adams decided to judge a little unsanctioned snowman competition.
When we were young, we all wanted Frosty the Snowman to come to life and make us smile. Now we know that our snowmen won’t dance with us, but building them still brings us a smile. If nothing else, it kills the boredom. “Getting tired of siting inside all day; wanted to do something to get out,” said Charlotte resident Darren Claret. Evidently, many people in Charlotte could relate. We received so many pictures of our viewers’ creations, an informal contest seemed necessary.
As much as people like to build snowmen on days like we’ve experienced, there’s nothing wrong with a little fort, especially when it comes to snowball battles! “We were originally trying to make an igloo actually,” said Charlotte resident Micajah McCurry. “Kind of started falling apart here and there, and started raining a bit.”
You have to appreciate an artist being able to shift his design mid-creation, but you really have to appreciate the creativity in general. Looking at this art, it’s all priceless. Though as temperatures rise and snow designs start to melt, you get the sense that we’re already over it. As McCurry puts it: “I’m ready for summer.”
