CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was killed after crashing on an icy road in east Charlotte. Police say alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
Twenty-eight year old Thomas Lyall is accused of losing control of his Jeep Wrangler on Eastway Drive and crashing into an utility pole. The force of the impact broke the pole in three places.
The vehicle then overturned and landed on its side. Lyall was pronounced dead on the scene. His passenger, Joseph Kizina, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation. Police are asking any witnesses to call 704-432-2169.
