CHARLOTTE, N.C.–Freddie Turner wanted to surprise his new neighbors with a clean driveway when they returned from running some errands. “It’s hard for them to do it,” he said. Turner is doing his part to help his neighborhood clean up from the storm, “I just gotta create my own plan to get rid of some of the stress,” Turner said.
While Freddie is focusing on driveways, Charlotte’s Department of Transportation is now turning its attention to residential streets. “I didn’t really expect it to be any different than this,” said Plaza Midwood Resident Joanne Tate.
From Plaza Midwood to East Charlotte and parts of North Charlotte, it’s clear workers still have a lot of snow covered roads to clean up. “In the neighborhood it’s sloppy on some streets. And some streets it’s alright,” said North Charlotte Resident Barrick Wilson.
Prompting a mixed reaction from drivers who feel some roads are being neglected. “It’s a big problem because we’ve got to deal with kids slipping and all that other stuff,” said one resident.
Back outside Theresa and her 90 year old Mom, Ida’s house, Freddie is finishing up a third driveway in his neighborhood. Paying it forward to enrich his life and the lives of others, “You’re giving back more…because the dollar value is much more,” said Turner.
