UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A 6th grade East Union student got the surprise of his life Friday morning. Drekius Tanner was sitting in class when he was told he had a visitor.
When he turned around, his father Jermerick Rushing, who is a Petty Officer 3rd Class in the Navy, was at the door to his classroom. Rushing had been deployed with the US Marines since August 2013.
