CHARLOTTE, NC– From her hospital bed at Caramont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, Sunshine Brown says she’s never felt more pain in her life after Jan Michael Reinhardt, the father of their 5-year-old son, Ashton, pushed her out of his truck and ran her over.
It happened at the Quick Trip gas station in Gastonia shortly after 10am Friday morning. “He pushed me out of his truck and ran me over,” says Brown, “My pelvis is fractured in two different spots and my spine is fractured at the bottom.
She says the incident happened after they got into a verbal argument inside of his Chevy Blazer. “He opened up the door and pushed me out and then- it’s even on camera- he stopped then ran over my hip and then left,” says Brown.
Police have warrants out for Reinhardt’s arrest. Once police find him, he will be charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon, with Intent to Kill Resulting in Serious Injury. Reinhardt’s uncle, Daniel, didn’t want to appear on camera. He says his nephew is kind, loyal, and a good father, and that he’d never lay a hand on a woman, let alone hit one with his car. He says there’s got to be more to the story. He says he has a message for his nephew: “We love you. We are on your side. Turn yourself in and get this straightened out,” says Daniel.
Brown has a message for Reinhardt too: “I hope he gets caught. He deserves to go to jail for this,” she says.
