Charlotte Man Charged in Death of His Infant Son

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man has been charged in the death of his infant son, Jackobie Morgan. On Monday, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department say Travis Pemberton turned himself in to authorities. 

On February 9, at 2:44 a.m., officers responded to Cedar Creek Lane in regards to an infant that was found unresponsive. Medic transported the infant to Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville where he later died. 

During the investigation, the Medical Examiner’s office determined that the infant was physically assaulted, which led to his death.

Pemberton voluntarily turned himself in after officers say he confessed to physically assaulting the victim. He is charged with Murder and Felony Child Abuse.
