One Killed, Another Injured In Northeast Charlotte Shooting

UPDATE: Police say the man killed in this shooting has been identified as 25-year-old Tony Van Tran.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD is conducting a homicide investigation on Northgate Trail Drive off Reedy Creek Road in Northeast Charlotte.

Authorities say they received an assault with a deadly weapon call around 6:31 p.m. Monday. When they arrived on scene, they found multiple shell casings, but were not able to locate the victim.
 
A short time later, Carolinas Medical Center University contacted police to notify them that a gunshot victim had arrived at the hospital. The victim later died as a result of the shooting.
 
Neighbors say this is not the first time a shooting has happened on their street.
 
A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in front of his home in the 10,600 block of Northgate Trail Drive. Police arrested five teens. They said Kydaryune “KC” Curry disrespected them in front of a girl the day before.
 
Neighbors say several teens and kids live at the home where Monday’s shooting happened with no supervision, and say cops come out to the house often.
 
Police say a second victim was also physically assaulted and sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and released by Medic.
 
No arrests have been made at this time.
