MONROE, NC– Union County parents are fighting redistricting and can finally speak out at upcoming school board hearings.
Tuesday the Union County board of Education laid out various options.
The first plan, groups sixth graders with elementary grades, a second plan allows current students to be grand-fathered in.
Current students could stay where they are, but new students would switch schools.
Parents have two chances to speak out about the redistricting plan.
The Board of Education is holding a public hearing Thursday night at Monroe High School, another public hearing will be held Monday night at Parkwood High School.
Both meetings will start at 6pm.
