Kiss Me, Kate

What happens when you combine the music of Cole Porter and a story by William Shakespeare? You get South Mecklenburg High School (SMHS) Performing Arts Department‘s upcoming production of KISS ME, KATE. The show will be performed Thursday-Sunday, March 27-30. Show times are 7pm March 27-29 and 2pm March 30. Tickets will be sold only at the door and are $10. The show is rated PG-13, “cuz it‘s Too Darn Hot!” KISS ME, KATE is a play-within-a-play that features a theatre company producing a musical version of Shakespeare‘s THE TAMING OF THE SHREW. The show follows the complications and conflicts the cast members have in their off-stage lives, and how it impacts their on-stage performances. Music and lyrics are by Cole Porter, and the book is by Bella and Samuel Spewack.
