Police Investigating Assault Involving Two Women Joggers in SouthPark

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating an assault involving two women joggers in the SouthPark area.

According to authorities, the assault took place on Friday afternoon around 2:45 p.m. The women say they were jogging along the walking trail between Governors Square and Fairview Road close to the tunnel that goes to the Foxcroft East swim club. As they were running they were approached by a man who yelled at them to run in the opposite direction. When the women stopped running, the suspect assaulted both of the women. The victim’s say they were punched in the head and neck before grabbing a stick. They sustained minor injuries. 

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid to late 20’s with a light complexion and medium build. He is described as having dark eyebrows, clean shaven and was neat in appearance. he was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black athletic shorts and a green toboggan with cream colored stripes. The suspect may have also have been traveling on an older style black bicycle. 

Police say they have increased their presence in the area with officers on foot, bicycles and dirt bikes. They say they have several leads in the case.
