Pedestrian Killed in North Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — According to police, on Thursday night around 7:16 p.m. officers were called to the 5500 block of N. Tryon Street in regards to a pedestrian being hit. Polices say the pedestrian was crossing near the intersection of Old Concord Road when a white Chevrolet van traveling northbound struck the victim. The pedestrian died at the scene.

That section of N. Tryon is not a marked pedestrian crosswalk.Β

Police say the vehicle failed to stop at the crash scene. After hitting the pedestrian, the van veered into the right lane and then onto Old Concord Road before traveling north towards Orr Road.

Police are now looking for a white Chevrolet Express Van. They say it should have damage to the grill and should be missing the Chevrolet “Bowtie” emblem.

The victim’s name has not been released at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police or CrimeStoppers.
