CHARLOTTE, NC – “Baseball, what better way to spend an evening during the summertime?” asks Huntersville resident Jeff Dippold. Dippold dropped by BB&T BallPark Tuesday. He’s surprising his wife with tickets for her birthday. “I don’t think there’s gonna be a bad seat in the place,” he says.

It seemed like everyone passing by paused to take a look or snap a quick picture. “It’s a magnet for people. It’s right here in center city where a lot of people live and work,” explains Knights GM of Baseball Operations Scotty Brown. Brown says the Knights are almost ready for Opening NightApril 11th. “Just minor tweaking of sound systems, video boards. We’re getting pretty close,” he says.
Last week, the Knights team store opened. Since sales began on Saturday, the team has sold over 20,000 tickets. Demand for seats has been strong. All single-game Opening Day tickets have sold out. And club level seats for all games sold out last year.
“Well I think it’s a pretty ballpark, I’m really impressed with how it turned out,” says Gastonia resident Steve Thomas. Thomas has watched the ballpark’s construction from his office window. “Didn’t really look like there was room enough to put the ball field in there, but it really turned out great, it’s really pretty,” he says. “Maybe we can pop out of here on an afternoon and catch a game.”
“People are ready for this ballpark. They’re ready for the Knights to come out of Spring Training. And this party’s gonna last all season long,” Brown says.
