Celebration of Life Planned to Celebrate Kilah Davenport’s Life

CHARLOTTE, NC– The Davenport family tells WCCB that a Celebration of Life is planned to celebrate the life of Kilah Davenport.

It will take place at 2:30pm on Saturday, March 22nd at the Oaks Event Center in Midland. It is open to the public.

There will be music and a balloon launch to remember the 4-year-old whose life ended suddenly this week. Kilah passed away at 6:08 Wednesday night after she stopped breathing. Her mother, Kirby Davenport, tried to revive her but was unsuccessful.

In 2012, Kilah was badly beaten by her step-father, Joshua Houser, causing severe brain injury. He was convicted of felony child abuse last month.

The case has led to a new state law named after Kilah. A national version of “Kilah’s Law” has made it’s way through the State House. It is now working it’s way through the Senate. More tonight on WCCB News at 10pm.
