Doug McDermott poured in 35 points as Creighton bopped DePaul 84-62 to reach Friday night’s Big East semifinals and would appear to have a much easier route to the Big East title with Villanova out.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Xavier Thames (TEHMZ), the Mountain West Conference player of the year, had 15 points and seven assists in as San Diego State put on a clinic to welcome Utah State to its first Mountain West tournament. The eighth-ranked Aztecs shot 52.5 percent from the field, hitting 7 of 17 from 3-point range, in routing the Aggies 73-39 to reach the Mountain West semifinals against UNLV, which defeated Wyoming 71-67.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Jonathan Martin is officially a member of the San Francisco 49ers. Martin passed his physical yesterday to complete a trade that sent the offensive tackle from the Miami Dolphins to the Niners to be reunited with his college coach, Jim Harbaugh.
