SAN ANTONIO (AP) β€” The Philadelphia 76ers have now lost 25 straight games. The most recent loss came last night as they were beaten by the Spurs in San Antonio 113-91. The loss means the Sixers are one defeat shy of equaling the NBA record for consecutive losses. The win for the Spurs, by the way, was their 14th straight.

DENVER (AP) β€” Both the Spurs and Thunder won their games last night which means San Antonio still leads Oklahoma City by two games in the NBA’s Western Conference race. Tonight, the Thunder are playing the Mavericks in Dallas while the Spurs have the night off.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) β€” Center Pau Gasol (pow gah-SAHL’) of the Lakers has been diagnosed with vertigo and isn’t expected to play against the visiting Knicks tonight. He missed the second half of Sunday’s victory over Orlando after complaining of dizziness and nausea. He spent the night in a hospital and the Lakers say an MRI of his head was normal.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) β€” It’s been announced that Dario Franchitti (DAH’-ree-oh fran-KEE’-tee) will drive the pace lap for the 98th running of the Indy 500 in May. The three-time winner of the race was forced to retire in November from injuries suffered in an October IndyCar race at Houston. He’ll be driving a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) β€” The Carolina Hurricanes have signed defenseman Justin Faulk to a six-year contract extension worth $29 million. Faulk is second on the Hurricanes with an average of about 23Β½ minutes of ice time a game.
