CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Worn down roads cost Charlotte drivers $1,500 a year.
Transportation research group Trip, based the number on vehicle repairs, car-crashes and the cost of sitting in traffic.
Trip found that the average Charlotte driver wastes 40 hours a year stuck in traffic. Researchers say the county and state need to spend more money repairing highways and bridges.
That means raising taxes. The study also found nearly one-third of North Carolina bridges have issues.
