In New York, Connecticut is playing Iowa State with the second game featuring Virginia and Michigan State. The games in Indianapolis have Michigan playing Tennessee with Louisville going against Kentucky in the second game.
UNDATED (AP) — In the South regional semi’s last night Dayton pulled off another surprise with an 82-72 win over Stanford, while top seed Florida beat UCLA 79-68. The winners will play on Sunday for the right to advance to the Final Four. In West Regional play last night Wisconsin beat Baylor 69-52 and Arizona stopped San Diego State 70-64. They will play for a spot in the Final Four on Sunday as well.
HOUSTON (AP) — The losing streak continues for Philadelphia. The 76ers were knocked off by the Rockets in Houston last night 120-98, which means the team from Philadelphia has dropped 26 straight games. That ties the 2010-2011 Cleveland Cavaliers for the longest losing streak in league history.
UNDATED (AP) — Miguel Cabrera (mih-GEHL’ kah-BREHR’-uh) is on the verge of signing a mega-money deal with the Detroit Tigers. A person with knowledge of the deal says the Tigers have agreed to pay Cabrera a baseball-record $292 million over the next 10 years. Cabrera, who has been voted AL MVP in each of the last two seasons, won the Triple Crown in 2012.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The opening round of the PGA’s Texas Open is being completed today as play was shut down last night by darkness. When play was called there was a tie for the clubhouse lead that involved Pat Perez and Danny Lee at 68.
