CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Elevation Church pastor Steven Furtick spent time praying with the Cannons at their home in Ballantyne Friday. Cannon has told us he and Furtick are close friends. The ex-mayor took credit for a $300,000 donation the church made to help fight homelessness, but the church says the money went to the Foundation for the Carolinas.
We have exerpts from a radio interview last month in which Furtick asked Cannon about combating negativity.
“So, yeah, there will be challenges, there will be people between the individuals, companies, corporations, media,” said Cannon in the interview. “But I believe in putting blinders on and just forgetting about the chatter that goes on in and around the water cooler.” Furtick replied, “Mayor Cannon, we love and appreciate you. You’re a great man.”
