SHELBY, N.C. — A woman is in the ICU after her and a man were injured trying to run from police during a drug bust in Cleveland County.
Police say Kimberly Whitworth and Jason Lowery tried to run from police which caused a pursuit. Lowery lost control of the vehicle and crashed while trying to avoid a set of spike strips. Both suspects were airlifted to a local hospital.
Investigators say doctors found approximately 20 grams of meth inside the body cavity of Whitworth. They also found a glass tube device inside her. The drugs have a street value of $2,000.
