CHARLOTTE, NC: The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has charged two men, 22 year old Jamerick Yamon Horton and 21 year old Tyree Lavarchio Sifford, in connection with the death of Alquez Lee Thompson. The shooting happened Monday afternoon on Whisnant Street. CMPD says Horton was arrested by the Violent Crimes Apprehension Team late Wednesday night. Sifford was arrested by VCAT early Thursday morning. Both men were interviewed by detectives. Sifford is charged with first degree murder. Horton is charged with two counts of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Both men are being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail.
