During WCCB News @ 10, we told you about the transgender student at CPCC who says a security guard harassed and humiliated her as she came out of the women’s bathroom. The female guard asked to see some ID from Andraya Williams, who says it’s because of the way she looks. Andraya and her attorney are considering filing a civil rights complaint.
The school sent out a statement today saying, “The College does not tolerate harassment of any kind. College personnel have been investigating the incident in question for several days, and the goal is to reach an amicable resolution with the student in the near future.” It also said they believe they’re in compliance with the law, and plan to continue a dialog with LGBT leaders.
And outside of the larger sociological issues, much of what they’ll discuss is likely the core incident here: was Andraya discriminated against? Our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, hit the street with the same question…
