The women’s title game is being played in Nashville, Tenn., and features two unbeaten schools.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Connecticut Huskies won the men’s NCAA basketball championship last night with a 60-54 win over Kentucky. Shabizz Napier keyed the attack for the Huskies with 22 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals. The national title is UConn’s second in four years.
ATLANTA (AP) — It was 40 years ago tonight in Atlanta that Hank Aaron of the Atlanta Braves broke the tie he held with Babe Ruth for most career home runs. He slammed his 715th round tripper against the Dodgers and tonight in Atlanta, before the Braves face the Mets, a celebration will take place honoring Aaron.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Joey Logano took the checkered flag in yesterday’s rain-delayed Sprint Cup race in Fort Worth, Texas. He passed Jeff Gordon on the final lap to win the seventh race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season. The race had been postponed on Sunday because of rain.
VANCOUVER (AP) — The Anaheim Ducks now lead the NHL’s Pacific Division by three points over San Jose after last night’s 3-0 win in Vancouver. The win gives the Ducks 110 points, one less than Western Conference leader St. Louis.
