CAMP LEJUENE, N.C. — A Marine standing guard at Camp Lejeune’s main gate discharged an M4 rifle, killing another Marine guard.
According to a release from the Marines, the shooting happened at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Base Provost Marshal has stated the shooting is being considered neither as an act of terrorism nor an active shooter event at this time.
The incident is currently under investigation by Naval Criminal Investigative Service. The victim’s name has not been released.
