CHARLOTTE, NC — Working to connect veterans with potential employers.  Charlotte Bridge Home held a Veterans Summit at the Charlotte Convention Center Tuesday.  The group helps military members transition back to civilian life.  Veterans’ advocate and Charlotte resident Paula Broadwell says it’s a tough time with so many troops returning home after wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“They don’t know how to translate their skills to the employer,” said Broadwell.  “And an employer doesn’t know that even though they were in the infantry, they have tremendous leadership experience.  They can lead through adversity, they’re adaptive, resilient.  They’re loyal.”

Broadwell says many veterans also face stigmas from employers who are concerned about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other health care issues.
