Edge on Demand: Instagram and Tragedies

This video is no longer available.

Another mass assault at a school.  The student attacker is now charged with 4 counts of attempted homicide and 21 other counts in a morning knife rampage.  It leaves plenty of people asking, “Why did this happen?”  But others may be asking, “How do I look?”

In the wake of the attack, one of the kids who’s being called a hero for his quick thinking is also taking some heat.  Senior Nate Scimio snapped a selfie in the hospital.  He’s a student athlete who pulled the fire alarm when he realized what was happening, getting everyone to evacuate.  But the Instagram photo is also a problem for some people.  They say he’s being insensitive after a tragedy.  So is it okay to snap a selfie in the wake of a tragedy, even if you did something heroic?
