Β CHARLOTTE, NC — Parents rushed to pick up their kids Wednesday after a 90 minute lockdown at Northwest School of the Arts. Β It began around 1pm after reports that a student had a weapon. Β CMS police searched the campus, but couldn’t find anything. Β One grandparent says she’d like to see more done to protect students.
“Security,” said Samantha Stuidivant. Β “They should have security in school. Β Where they come in and check kids every morning. Β When I grew up in New York, in high school, that’s what they had. Β And they having so much stuff going on in school today.”
Even though the lockdown was lifted, CMS police say they are still investigating the report.
