CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A CMPD officer is being praised for saving two people’s lives in east Charlotte.
Officer Richard Vivas was conducting routine patrol on Kilborne Drive late Thursday evening when he saw smoke coming from a nearby residence.
Officer Vivas helped get two residents, who were sleeping inside the burning home, out safely. He then called for the fire department and MEDIC units.
Neither resident suffered any injury due to Officer Vivas quick thinking. Investigators do not suspect foul play in this fire.
