Search for Shooter After 2nd Goose is Shot with Arrow

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A female goose at Park Road Park in south Charlotte was found  with an arrow through her body this weekend.  Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Animal Care and Control division contacted Carolina Waterfowl Rescue (CWR) for assistance.

The arrow pierced the goose’s neck and she is being treated for a serious infection at the wound site, says CWR director Jennifer Gordon.

According to a press release from CWR, the 3-year-old bird was rescued Saturday, several months after officials reportedly started getting calls about the goose being sighted at a pond off East Barden Street behind Sunrise Senior Living on Providence Road.  CWR says it rescued another goose shot by an arrow from the same pond in April 2012.

CWR says officials suspect the shooter lives in the area.

A 5-year-old female goose is also recovering at CWR, after being rescued in Fayetteville late last week.  This bird had an arrow through the flesh of her wing, according to CWR.
