Β CHARLOTTE, NC — We now have a better idea how the city of Charlotte will use a $3 million grant to fight terrorism. Β The money from the Department of Homeland Security is being gifted to the Charlotte Fire Department. Β The Queen City is one of 39 cities nationwide to get the grant money.
Β Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Dulin says the department plans to spend some of the money on training for active-shooter scenarios and new equipment. Β “That would be things like protective equipment for officers and firefighters that need to go into hostile environments. Β It might be for patient treatment capabilities, or it might just be for things that we need to plan for.”
The federal government created the grant after the 9/11 terror attacks.
