Β The silence is broken! Β For the first time since her name surface in ex-Mayor Patrick Cannon’s corruption case, Amani Abdul is sharing her side of the story. Β The former campaign aide makes two points in a statement she released to WCCB: she is innocent and never had a romantic relationship with Patrick Cannon.
In the FBI’s criminal complaint against Cannon, we see that an undercover agent believed Cannon was attempting to persuade the agent to hire his aide. Β And aide is also said to have texted an undercover agent on behalf of Cannon to request a key to the South Park apartment. Β The receipt also brings up an email Abdul reportedly sent to the Mayor’s scheduler. Β However, the feds haven’t said what that email actually said.
