CHICAGO (AP) — In the lone day game in baseball today, the Cubs are playing host to the Reds. On the mound for the visitors is Alfredo Simon with Jeff Samardzija (suh-MAHR’-juh) toeing the rubber for the Cubs. The Reds are 6-9 while the Cubs are 4-10.
DULUTH, Ga. (AP) — A Champions Tour event starts today in Duluth, Ga. The reigning champion is Bernhard Langer, who finished three shots in front of Tom Lehman and Tom Pernice (pur-NEES’) Jr. last year. The Greater Gwinnett Championship marks the debut of Miguel Angel Jimenez (AHN’-hehl hee-MEHN’-ehz) on the Champions Tour.
KAPOLEI, Hawaii (AP) — The third round of the LPGA’s LOTTE (LOH’-tay) Championship is coming up later today in Hawaii. Angela Stanford shot an 8-under 64 on a wind-swept course yesterday to take a one-stroke lead into today’s play.
