14 Pit Bulls Seized from NE Charlotte Property

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – 14 pit bulls were removed from a northeast Charlotte property Monday. Β CMPD’s Animal Care and Control department obtained a search warrant to seize the animals. Β They say all the dogs were thin and some had no shelter or water available to them. Β 13 of the dogs were in the backyard and one was in the garage. Β 12 of the dogs were tethered in a manner that violates the city’s ordinance. Β

A search warrant shows animal control officers have been to the property more than 25 times. Β Β

As a result of the on-going investigation and the seizure of the dogs, Samuel G. Mobley was arrested and charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty. Β Officers say Mobley is in violation of nuisance, tethering, permitting, license tags and rabies vaccine ordinances. Β CMPD says Mobley has been previously issued more than $6,000 in fines. Β CMPD says most of those fines are still outstanding.Β

The dogs are currently being housed and cared for at the CMPD Animal Care and Control shelter and will remain there until the court process has been completed.
