CHARLOTTE, NC — CMS plans to team up with the Charlotte Housing Authority to open a new school in west Charlotte. It’s part of the Renaissance West Community Initiative. The project is pumping $75 million into developments along West Boulevard and Billy Graham Parkway. The school will foster partnerships with families, businesses, and community groups.
“If a child has at least one caring adult in their education experience, their academic progress soars,” said CMS Superintendent Heath Morrison. “It’s so exciting. It takes the concept of a neighborhood school, takes it to another level.”
The school will be built with $30 million of voter-approved bond money. It’s slated to open in 2017.
