Man on the Edge: Take the Plea Deal?

This video is no longer available.

Β It’s been nearly a month, but it isn’t over yet. Β In fact, the FBI investigation into ex-Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon is only expanding. Β The county has been subpoenaed in the corruption case. Β Cannon’s own lawyers don’t even know how big the case is, since the feds are still following up on leads they’ve been getting since the affidavit came down last month. Β So is it time to give up?

Will Kennedy told us during the News @ 10, the FBI is still building the criminal case, likely working to find anyone else who should be charged. Β And to see whether more charges against Cannon could surface. Β Investigators have plenty already. Β The next grand jury meets on May 13, but it’s not like they’re on a schedule to charge him.

Officially, there’s not much more to know at this point. Β But unofficially, you just know people are putting the squeeze on, Law and Order style. Β Cooperate with us finding other people, and we’ll see what we can do, is what they always say. Β So after a month of dealing with this, if you were Patrick Cannon, would you go for a plea deal, or demand your day in court?

Our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, went to find out…
